Hole in the Walls

Tasty Hand-Pulled Noodles*
1 Doyers Street
True to its name, this noodle joint is tasty, cheap, and has a surly noodleman who will hand pull noodles while you wait. Try the roast duck hand-pulled noodles or the pan-fried chicken & shrimp knife-peeled noodles. Don’t be surprised if you show up on a Friday night and find a room full of laowai noodle-slurpers!
Wah Fung No.1 Fast Food*
79 Chrystie Street
Wah Fung serves up the best cha siu over rice (Chinese-style BBQ pork) this side of the Great Wall. The line is long, but it’s worth the wait. $2.50 gets you a generous portion of cha siu, chopped up before your very eyes and heaped over rice. If you’re not a pork fan, try the duck or chicken instead.
